About
Tamara Achtman, Clinical Social Worker, MSW
Member of the OTSTCFQ, with a BSW (2003) and MSW (2005) from McGill University, I have practiced clinical social worker for over 15 years, working with a wide range of populations including adults and teenagers, young families, asylum seekers, and the elderly, facing a diversity of challenges.

I offer solution-focused, strengths-based, short-term counselling combined with the known benefits of exercise and movement in nature. Each walk and talk session with me will have goals - set by you- that we will work together to resolve. You are the expert, and I the guide.

I believe strongly that each person has within them the capacity, resources and wisdom to tackle the challenges inherent to life. My role is to accompany and support you as you untangle knots and impasses, helping you unlock your own potential. My goal as a counsellor is to give the space for that internal wisdom and strength to emerge. Each person has their own path to walk in this world, no one can walk it for us, but we can walk alongside each other and make the way lighter.

Centered on the inherent strengths of each individual, a walk and talk counselling session with me is an opportunity to reconnect with your values, find clarity and move forward with serenity all while integrating the positive effects of movement and nature into a counseling session.

I am also an avid walker. Having walked the Camino de Santiago among many other long and short distance walks both in Europe and North America, I have experienced first-hand the beneficial impacts of movement and exercise in the natural environment. Having seen the impact on my own well-being and mental health, I seek to share this experience with others. Let's go for a walk together!
